What a crazy week! We officially opened the doors to our new home last Friday and because of the delays in getting open, we already had people in the shop waiting for coffee! It was a far cry from the first opening of Shatterbox, and I want to personally thank everyone who has come by over the past week to welcome us to our new home!
Remarkably, after only a week, the new space on Pandora does feel like home! Granted, visually speaking, we did stick with some key design elements: the gallery white walls, the black trim, clean lines, and natural wood trim. But the space doesn't just look like home, it already feels like home. After some consideration, I realized it's the people. So many of our regulars have chosen to make the extra block or 2 walk despite the first week of April being unseasonably cool... Our new space does make it worth while though, there's seating right in the windows, and rather than overlooking a parking lot, we have beautiful view of Alix Goolden Hall and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. The view is almost as European as our coffee :)
All joking aside, it's been a real treat being in the neighbourhood, and we haven't had any concerns about the neighbours across the street at Our Place as many people suggested. It has opened a window into the difficult world of many Victorians, and introduced us to many of the people working hard to serve the City's disadvantaged. We're grateful to have been welcomed so warmly by the block and we look forward to growing with Pandora as the City grows.
Thank you again for all your support and I can't wait to see you
